Dear Caledonian,

It gives me much pleasure, on behalf of your Committee, to invite you to our first meeting of the season and look forward to seeing as many of you as possible when Chris Maile will again "tickle our palates" with a discourse on one of his favourite subjects. There is however, a dark cloud on the horizon, not created by the onset of Autumn. It is with great regret I must inform you that our Hon. President has tendered his resignation to the Committee. He is leaving Norway in a career move which will take him, with his family, to Saudi Arabia for some time.

This situation necessitates of course the election of a new President, and this will take place at an Extraordinary Annual General Meeting to be arranged.

For many of us Chris’s talks about "The Water of Life" have got a new season off to an excellent start on two previous occasions and he really needs no lengthy introduction. However, for those who have not had the pleasure of attending one of these informative and tasty evenings, this should really not be missed. You will be introduced to the ingredients, methods, qualities and locations which give these six whiskies their particular characteristics, and how best to enjoy them. The chances that you will acquire a new taste for "Water" are high on this occasion.

As usual, members will be able to enjoy our offer of Dinner, which we hope will bear more of a Scottish flavour from now on, with wines and coffee at the subsidised price of Kr. 200,- per head, and of course guests will be most welcome at the full price of Kr. 270,-
