Dear Calidonian On behalf of your Committee, it gives me great pleasure as your new Secretary to invite you to our summer meeting with the ladies, together with the Oslo Scottish Country Dance Group. The details are as follows: We have acquired 60 seats to see the play "DD. MM. Kongen og Dronningen – Oscar og Sophie" at Akershus Festning on Friday, 13th June (see below). The play starts at 18:00 hrs, but guests should arrive by 17:30 to allow sufficient time to walk to King Olav’s Hall from the car park. Parking is inside the main gate (Kirkegaten entrance). DD. MM. KONGEN OG DRONNINGEN – OSCAR OG SOPHIE (arranged in cooperation with Stiftelsen Akershus) With actors Svein Erik Brodal and Gudrun Waadeland, with music from Ole Kr. Hanssen and the King’s Guard. Outside the family, life was extremely turbulent for King Oscar II. His family provided the security he sought, and his wife, Queen Sophie was the tower in his castle. But who were they really, and what did they mean for each other? We will be given an insight into their lives through the letters they wrote to each other throughout their whole marriage. After the play, we will walk down to the canteen in the Defence College, where we will be served sandwiches. The price per head is NOK 300. Due to the limited number of tickets, they will be allocated on a "first-come-first-served" basis.
