BURNS NIGHT 2004

On behalf of your committee, it is with great pleasure that I invite you and your guests to our 2004 Burns Night:

Date: Friday 23rd January 2004.
Location: Eckbo Selskapslokaler, Jegerveien 4, 0386 Oslo (link)
Time:
18:30 hrs for 19:00 hrs
Dress:
Highland, Uniform or Black Tie (Smoking)

This year the Immortal Memory will be presented by our former President Mr Ronald Campbell Allison MBE, CA. and once again our Patron The Rt. Hon. The Earl of Caithness P.C. Lord Malcolm Sinclair will join us in our celebrations.

The Haggis has already been shot and is being prepared by McSween in Edinburgh, so provided the Norwegian customs don’t make life more difficult than normal, we will be able to sit down together and enjoy this feast of Scotland on the 23rd.

The admission cost for Members will be NOK 500 and for Guests NOK 700.  Each ticket will be numbered and will represent the equivalent number in the Grand Draw for five prizes, which will take place while we are still seated, enabling everybody to see the results.  An after-dinner raffle will also be held, in keeping with our regular meeting tradition.  Gifts for the raffle will be most gratefully received at Eckbo.

It is again worth remembering that it is largely due to the generosity of many Norwegian wines and spirits merchants, and other important sponsors that we will once again be able to honour the Immortal Memory in the manner to which we are accustomed.  As is normal, there will be an after-dinner bar with our usual selection of drinks at reasonable prices.

While it is very flattering that there are so many Guests who wish to attend our Burns Night, the premises restrict the number of participants and we therefore request that Members limit the number of their Guests to one each.

Make your reservations to David Wylie on telephone 997 91049 or by sending him an e-mail at house@cally.org, by MONDAY 12th January please.

Your Committee looks forward to the pleasure of your company and to another most enjoyable gathering.

Yours aye,
