The Caledonian Society's
 Burns Supper

23rd January 2016

On behalf of your Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you and your Guests to the traditional Caledonian Burns Supper 2016. This year’s Burns Supper marks the commencement of the Caledonian Society’s 70th anniversary year. The Society’s Patron, Lord Malcolm, has expressed his interest in attending the Burns Supper this year, and we hope we can welcome him as Guest of Honour to what we aim to ensure will be a truly grand event.

Saturday 23rd January 2016
17h00 for 18h00
Oslo Militære Samfunds Selskapslokaler
Myntgata 3, 0151 Oslo
Dress Code:
Strictly only Highland, Bunad, Uniform, or Black Tie (smoking)
How Much:
800 NOK for fully paid up Members.
900 NOK for Guests.
We prefer cash as the main method of payment, however credit and debit cards are also accepted.

The Haggis hunt was successful this year and the prepared beasties are, we believe, maturing nicely in MacSween’s storage before being shipped to Norway.  With our usual caveat of no last-minute hiccups in the paper work, we should be able to sit down together to enjoy this celebration of Burns and of Scotland on the 23rd.

The prices for this year’s gathering have not been changed and we will be charging a subsidised price of 800 NOK for fully paid up Members while Guests will pay the full cost price of 900 NOK. This includes the full Haggis dinner, one beer and four fills of whisky and good company. There will be a free raffle for all diners with the option to buy further tickets for those feeling especially lucky.

Please note that all Members will still be required to pay the event price if they fail to attend after giving an R.S.V.P as "attending". Members are also advised to remember that they are liable for their Guests' attendance fees and will be required to pay the full amount in their place should a registered Guest fail to attend.

We have many special prizes this year but, as always, gifts for the raffle will be most gratefully received at the venue on the day (or contact in advance).

Please also be reminded that we this year have the very special Grand Kilt Raffle, where you have a chance to win a bespoke box pleated kilt in the Norwegian Night tartan. The draw will take place after the meal at Burns Supper. Tickets are 100 NOK each and can be purchased in advance via bank transfer or from the Committee on the day.

As we expect to see a large turnout of Members, Guests will be registered in chronological order and places will be allocated in good time prior to the event.  Please note that we intend to apply the dress code strictly so please inform your Guests accordingly.

Please make your reservations to Mr. David Williamson at or by calling him on his mobile phone, number +47 995 95 092, as soon as possible to secure a place.

R.S.V.P. as soon as possible or by Friday 15th January at the absolute latest!

Your Committee looks forward to the pleasure of your company and to another most enjoyable gathering.

Yours Aye,

Nicolai Løken
Hon. Secretary
